Greenberg Movie Dog Has IMHA Just Like Me

Recently, my dads watched a pay per view movie in their hotel room called “Greenberg.” I know my one dad was really looking forward to seeing this movie, yet he was largely disappointed but for some interesting portrayals of Los Angeles veterinary hospitals and my illness, IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia- See Veterinary Partner link). Well, Ben Stiller was his typical neurotic self and much less amusing in one of my favorite movies, Flirting with Disaster (with always amazing Lily Tomlin). I was periodically awoken by my dad excitedly calling out the names of the hospitals where the canine protagonist, a German Shepherd Dog named Mahler, was taken for evaluation for lethargy and increased respiratory rate (some of the many clinical signs of IMHA). They initially took Mahler to Laurel Pet Hospital, which is near where we live in West Hollywood. When the actor vet lady suspected that Mallard had IMHA, Pet Taxi then transported them to the Animal Medical Center (AMC) of Southern California. It was pretty cool the movie show these hospitals where I, too, have set paws (fortunately, only for social purposes). Anyway, it seems as though Mahler improved enough that he could be discharged on some of the same medications that I once took. I was surprised see that Mahler never had an intravenous catheter placed, was only hospitalized for a few short days, and appeared very energetic as soon as he was discharged to his home. Perhaps it was the stimulation and “roid rage” (see my YouTube video) caused by Prednisone. I have lots of useful, life experience with illness. Thank you for reading my latest dog blog post.
