Sunday Outing to Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills

Today was a good day for me, as I had enough energy to play some with my “Martian Man” squeaky toy. The soreness in my jaw has subsided, so I can get Mr. Martian in my mouth and bite him to my heart’s content. As all I have really done for the past week is lay around the house, I was happy to accompany my dads on an outing to Greystone Mansion and Park in Beverly Hills, CA. Many Hollywood productions have been filmed here, including HBO's Entourage and the Nicolas Cage movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets. As my dad limits my television viewing to Chelsea Lately, The Soup, and various CNN programs, I was not familiar with the mansion’s vast expanse situated just north of Sunset Boulevard. We were fortunate to have a reprieve from the rain, so a pleasant walk around the beautiful gardens was the perfect outing for me. Normally, I would have the energy to run all around like a crazy dog, but my low red blood cell (RBC) count doesn’t permit me to adequately oxygenate my tissues. As a result, I can’t exercise with the same vigor. My spirits definitely picked up when I saw the koi and turtles coming to the surface of pond to greet me. I still had enough zest to got to bite at a fountain’s water spout, which is one of my favorite pastimes. Tomorrow, the blood test will be back that will determine if I am reproducing new RBCs. The new RBCs are called reticulocytes and I have to be producing above a certain number for my anemia to be considered regenerative. Send out some good thoughts to my bone marrow so that I will continue to “make me some new blood.”
