Do you feed your pet fruit? Considering the plethora of commercially-available, highly-processed, feed-grade pet foods and treats available on the market today (some of which contain toxic or carcinogenic ingredients), owners should reconsider what goes you choose to put into their canine and feline companions' mouths. I'm a big advocate of whole-food, human-grade diets and treats for pets. What you purchase for your family from the grocery store or farmer's market or that which you grow in your garden may make a great snack or meal additive for your pet. Many fruits have high moisture, fiber, and nutrient content while being relatively low in calories and are attractive due to their sweet flavor.
