My Girlfriend Helps My IMHA Recovery Process

A lithe, young, blonde paid me a visit today. Lucia, a sweet Cockapoo who is our former next door neighbor and my long time canine companion, spends afternoons, and the occasional overnight, with me to help me in my recovery process. During Lucia’s last visit (see RBC Regeneration Confirmation Coincides With My Girlfriend's Visit) I was visibly feeling the effects of my latest occurrence of IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia). My red blood cell (RBC) numbers were on the gradual decline, so the only activity available to me was laying around on my “kitty blanket” (a faux fur throw one of my dads gave me as a 2008 Valentine’s Day gift). On that occasion, Lucia held vigil at my bedside and occasionally gave gracious sniffs of encouragement. Fortunately, my previous state of health is returning. My immune system’s self-destructive tendency has been suppressed, so my RBC numbers are improved and my former jocular energy has returned (see On ‘roids). As a result, Lucia's visit was filled with activity reminiscent of our previous dates. Lethargy has been replaced by squeaky ball play, light running around the house, and gentle wrestling for the more dominant posture. Lucia is a pleasure to have around for both for my dads and I. Her presence is always welcome and certainly brightens our day. We wish the proximity of our homes permitted Lucia to suddenly bound into apartment through our open porch door. I look forward to Lucia’s next visit and hope that I can take her for a hiking date in the coming weeks. Thank you for keeping up with my IMHA story. More “tails” of recovery coming soon.
