My First Griffith Park Hike Since Getting Sick Again

Today was my first time hiking up near the Hollywood sign since my latest occurrence of Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA). It was such a fresh and balmy Los Angeles day after the previous night’s heavy spring rain, so my dads took me for a great outdoor adventure on the trails of Griffith Park. Normally we hike around the sign so that we can peer over to the valley side of Los Angeles, which always makes me appreciate living on the greener, non-valley side (nothing against you valley girls and boys). Today, we embarked on less familiar terrain and headed east, which provided amazing views of downtown Los Angeles and Griffith Park Observatory from Dante’s peak. Some great photos of me with some growth on my shortly cropped mane were taken from the top of our hike. I’m cuter now than ever! For the first time, we got to explore Bronson Caves which were featured in many TV and movie features. I bravely walked through the caves, but did not see any bats! I expected the “Bat Cave” would be inhabited by cute, yet potentially menacing, creatures of the night. I guess it is best that we did not encounter any bats, as I prefer not to catch any communicable diseases during my improving state of health. As for my IMHA recovery, all is going smashingly well. It is so great to be getting back to my formative, energetic self. My coat continues to grow in rich tones of black and auburn. The coarseness of my new coat is reminiscent of my puppyhood. The medication required to suppress my immune system is now being administered on an every other day basis, and may even be taken down to a lower frequency in the coming weeks. An appropriate variety of supplements, diet, and Chinese herbs are also helping to keep my health on the upswing. Thank you for reading my latest blog entry. It is so fun to have such an adventuresome life that I can share with other companion animals (and their owners) that may not be feeling so well as they try to overcome health issues. Be strong and carry on, my canine and feline compatriots! Cardiff
