Dr. Patrick Mahaney's Guide to Holistic Pet Care- Part 1

holistic-part-1

Do you take a holistic approach to your pet's health? By holism, I mean always considering your pet's whole-body health instead of simply focusing on a single body part or system. Too often, owners don't recognize that implications disease in one part has for the rest of the body. For example, periodontal disease permits oral cavity bacteria to move from the mouth into the blood stream which negatively impacts the heart, kidneys, liver, pancreas, and other body systems. Instead of keeping the mouth clean on a life-long basis many owners permit serious and sometimes irreversible disease to occur in the mouth which affects whole-body health. If daily effort and ongoing collaboration with a veterinarian to deter periodontal disease is undertaken then other body systems will be less-likely to incur the toxic effects of the mouth's inflammation and infection. Check out my series of articles for PetNet for my top recommendations for your pet's best whole-body health: Guide To Holistic Pet Care – Part 1.
