Christmas Day Malibu Style

Today was my first outing for exercise since the most recent occurrence of my Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA). Having a significant deficiency in red blood cells (RBCs) does not allow me to be very energetic, so I have been laying relatively low on my comfortable kitty blanket. The beaches of Malibu are some of my favorite destinations for a day of fun, sun, surf, and sand. It is such an easy drive from West Hollywood, so we come here as often as we can for the refreshing sensation that comes with putting our feet in the ocean. I have always wanted to live close to the water and our current residence, just a short trip away, will do until my dads can ultimately acquire some waterfront property. Alternatively, I would accept a short walk to the water, as I don’t want to overburden my dads with requirements for what will be my ideal den. After my last IMHA occurrence in June, 2008, I came to the same place for some reasonable intensity activity. This beach is special to me, as I have so many good memories of running at the water’s edge other new or familiar dog friends. My dad says that this is where he was going to scatter my ashes if I died during one of my earlier disease occurrences. When I first got sick, back in 2007, he thought that day may be sooner than later, but I am resilient and have fought back to my formerly healthful vigor on more than one occasion. As I am doing well in my response to this latest IMHA incidence, I know it will be some time before my ashes are going to be scattered anywhere. Going to the beach on Christmas day is certainly preferable to the freezing cold weather our family members are experiencing on the East coast. Warm thoughts from sunny Southern California go out to the all my loved ones in Delaware, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. I wish them the best this holiday season.
