Red Carpet Report: The Onyx and Breezy Foundation Saving Tails Gala

This article originally appeared on Dr. Mahaney’s Pet-Lebrity News (hyperlinked to http://www.pet360.com/blog/pet-lebrity-news ) column on Pet360.com as: Red Carpet Report: The Onyx and Breezy Foundation Saving Tails Gala  Pet-loving celebrities and non-celebrity animal aficionados converged in the luxury Hollywood Hills home of James Costa to promote the better welfare of our four-legged, furry friends through The Onyx and Breezy Foundation Saving Tailsgala. Before we get to my report on the superstar celebrities in attendance, here’s some background on the foundation. The Onyx and Breezy Foundation was established in 2004 by Mark and Wanda Shefts’ in commemoration of their two Labrador retrievers (Onyx and Breezy) who passed away within a short time of each other. The Onyx and Breezy Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that betters the lives of animals by: -Funding veterinary medical care, including spay and neuter programs and disaster relief -Providing basic supplies (food, shelter, etc.) for foster homes and individuals experiencing financial or personal hardship -Facilitating the purchase of medical supplies for treatment facilities -Contributing to research on canine and feline diseases -Supporting other organizations and endeavors that benefit animal welfare -Educating potential owners of the merits of adopting rescue pets instead of those that are mill-bred Red Carpet at Saving Tails GalaThe Saving Tails fundraiser honored Golden Globe and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren and renowned celebrity-pet photographer Christopher Ameruoso, who received special recognition for their ongoing efforts on behalf of animal welfare. After sipping beverages from Les Compagnons, Patrón Liquor and Omega Infusion Water and snacking on Food By Mother Organic’s vegan meat loaf and Stella's Best’s vegan peanut butter and jelly ice cream, attendees were treated to the musical stylings of American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze and NBC’s Smash Star Leslie Odom, Jr. Throughout the night, the red carpet was heavily trod upon by a diverse cast of actors, comedians, musicians, and even a gold medal winning Olympian, including: -Peter Facinelli and Jamie Alexander (both from Nurse Jackie) -Emmy Rossum and Tyler Jacob Moore (both from Shameless) -Priscilla Presley (The Naked Gun) -Kristin Bauer (True Blood) -Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger) -Frances Fisher (Titanic) -Sam Elliott (Up in the Air) -Katharine Ross (The Graduate) -Ken Howard (Michael Clayton) -Greg Louganis (1984 & 1988 Olympic diving gold medalist) -Ronn Moss (Bold and the Beautiful)     Patrick and Ronn Moss -Gilles Marini (Sex and the City: The Movie) -Debra Wilson (MadTV) Once the red carpet had been traversed, guests were requested to remove their shoes for the remainder of the festivities. Such was the first time I’ve seen so many interestingly patterned socks on the feet of guests at an event of this caliber. I had a great time conversing with Peter Facinelli and Jamie Alexander about her newly adopted rescue pooch. Additionally, I learned of Greg Louganis’ vast experience in the realm of dog agility. Ron Moss got me singing the timeless song “Baby Come Back” from his days as a member of Player. Finally, I caught up with Priscilla on the health of her canine companions. The full photographic report of the celebrities in-attendance can be found on Wire Image. Do your part to help fund the betterment of animals in need by making a donation to the Onyx and Breezy Foundation. 100% of donations to Onyx and Breezy go to help animals, as all administrative and fundraising expenses are paid for by the Shefts family or corporate/individual sponsors.
