Conversations With Cousin Cameo- Cameo's Knee Is Painin'

It is so great to have dog friends around the country and world with whom I correspond. Here is the first in an ongoing series of conversations I am having with my cousin Cameo. Cameo is a very sweet Yorkshire Terrier living the good life in Massachusetts. Hi Cardiff, I just got back from my doctor and it seems I am going to be getting a lot of attention from my parents, just like you. I have been favoring my left rear leg and am now trying to stay off of it cuz it is a little sore. Mom and dad thought I had a thorn or something in my paw but they checked that out and everything was kosher. So they keep checking my bones and they seem to be ok too. When I really want, I can run and chase after those darn cats I live with, so I am really confusing the old couple. Now sometimes in the morning I am a little slow in using it. I guess it was a major concern this weekend and mom is all aflutter cuz she can't stand it when I am not up to par. Mom is also getting a little tired of always having to carry me in my satchel when we go for walks in the field. So, I had to pack my bags (including my fav toy) and head out for a visit to the vet. Well, let me tell you, the vet told dad that I am my worst enemy! Can you believe that? The nerve of him! I was highly insulted. I tend to get a little hyper, then jump off the couch, cuz i just wanna go and go and go. Sometimes I just forget that there are five sets of puppy stairs in that house just for me. I guess my knee gets out of joint , then pops itself back in place on its own. My knee then pops out again when I get rambunctious. The vet ordered me to slow down for a few days and gave me a cortisone shot. The shot kind of scared me when I saw the needle, but my knee feels better enough that I showed mom and dad how I can use my leg again. The vet prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication for the next week. Until my knee is better, I can't go outside and do my usual run around the pool. I also can't run over to see my buddies Dick and Pam. I have to walk slowly, like a lady, and have to try to stay calm for the next seven days. This is driving me nuts! My mom says that if I don't behave, she will put me in a cage, which I see as a torture chamber. Nooooooooooooooo! So, I will be laying low, behaving demurely, and totally bored for a week. I'll have to get some good books or catch up on my beauty sleep. Woof, woof, woof. Love you, Cameo
